Season Slamin kesäkisan voitti Willie Männikkölahti
Keskiviikkona 12.6. pidettiin HPC:n uuden runoklubin, Helsinki Season Slamin ensimmäisen kesäkauden kilpailuilta. Porvoonkadun baarin jokaisen istuimen etureuna oli käytössä, kun poetry slam –kilpailua todistamaan tulleet innokkaat runopäät kuuntelivat kymmenen eri esiintyjän taidonnäytteitä. Illan taso ja tunnelma olivat kumpikin huikeita, ja pisteiden tasaväkinen ropina oli varsinkin allekirjoittaneelle pisteidenlaskijalle jännittävää seurattavaa.
Illan potin kuitenkin korjasi kolmen tiukan kierroksen jälkeen jyväskyläläinen Willie Männikkölahti, joka voitti itselleen Helsinki Poetry Connectionin kunniakirjan ja tietenkin hamutun sadan euron pääpalkinnon. HPC toivottaa Willielle rutkasti onnea, ja kiittää Porvoonkadun baarin henkilö- ja asiakaskuntaa pursuavasta dägästä! Tervetuloa kisaamaan syksyn Season Slamiin 11.9.2013!

Wednesday June 12th was wet and wild for everyone present at the bar on Porvoonkatu, where the Helsinki Poetry Connection organized its first ever Summertime Season Slam. The competition, based on international poetry slam rules, drew in ten highly gifted poets who each read their own material for three minutes at a time. All eyes were on the stage as the performers recited their hearts out in the hopes of rising through the evening’s ranks and winning the coveted 1stplace prize, one hundred Euros. The evening had a jam-packed Porvoonkatu bar seething with excitement as the points came rolling in for one performance after the other; the evening’s victor this time around was Willie Männikkölahti from Jyväskylä. The Helsinki Poetry Connection would like to thank everybody who made this event possible in such grand style; the staff of Porvoonkadun baari, our five fine judges, our amazing stage poets and everybody else who energized the competition with their presence. The Helsinki Season Slam’s next event, our Fall competition, will take place on Wednesday September 11th, 2013. Welcome one and all, to compete, judge or just partake in the glory of poetry slam.
