Ruusu Open Mic #56

Welcome to the last Ruusu Open Mic of the spring season #56 at restaurant Sörkan Ruusu!
Poetry will be enjoyed on May 26, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

This time, the lovely and brilliant Tiina Jokelainen and Helga West will perform as the evening’s warm-ups.

After warm-up acts, the stage is open for you!
You can register for the open mic on the spot after the warm-up performances.
You can present your text, song or other performance in the language of your choice. There is an option to connect a phone or a player to the sound system.

The length of the presentations is four minutes, so that those who wish have enough time to perform.

The event is produced by Fanni Oksanen and Natalia Karjalainen.
The event will be hosted by Natalia Karjalainen and Elina Ortamo. The poster and the video were made by Hanna-Katri Eskelinen.

April may be cold, but poetry blooms in Ruusu Open Mic #55. Welcome to enjoy poetry and other spoken word art on April 28. at 17-20 Restaurant Sörkan Ruusu!

This time, the wonderful Johanna Jouten and Riitta O will perform as the evening’s warm-ups.

After our warm-ups, the stage is open for you when it’s the time of the open mic.

You can register for the open mic on the spot after the warm-up performances. You can present your text, song or other performance in the language of your choice. There is an option to connect a phone or player to the sound reproduction, now your presentation is as it should be! The length of the presentations is four minutes, so that those who wish have enough time to perform.

The event is produced by Fanni Oksanen and Natalia Karjalainen. The event will be hosted by Natalia Karjalainen and Fanni Oksanen. The poster and the video were made by Hanna-Katri Eskelinen.

It’s possible to connect your instrument or phone etc in the sound system, if that’s what your performance needs. Time limit for every open mic performance is 4 minutes, so everyone has a chance to perform.

Poetry Jam – Crisis

Poetry Jam will be held 20.12.2023 at 6 p.m to 9 p.m, at Tenho Restobar (Helsinginkatu 15). This time the theme is Crisis.

We live in a time full of crises. Sometimes a crisis aptly describes what is happening, sometimes it’s just a crisis. Smaller conflicts, heartaches, frustrations and existential angst simmer alongside big crises, but do we have room to deal with personal crises if the world around us is gasping for breath? And how do we get through crises, and what does it take to get through them?

Theme of this time, crisis, breaks down the many meanings of a word that has been tangled up in many messes, bringing it back to the street level (even though Tenho is located on the second floor), to emotions and lived life. Come and experience the power of poetry!

The program starts at 6 p.m.

After the performers, there will be an Open mic session, where 4-5 performers will be selected in a curated manner. About 5 minutes are reserved for each performer. Rondo Open Mic invites all friends of poetry to a new club in the heart of Viikki! Welcome to a club filled with lyricists, the mic is warmed up by Raakasaga and Yavis. Be your style spoken or written word, rap, street poetry or something totally else, from this club you will find a place for it and yourself.

The open mic starts after the warm-up shows. You can perform your poetry, rap, song lyrics, thoughts, a joke — the most important thing is that it is written by you. Each performer has 5 minutes on stage. It is possible to play i.e. beats on the background from phone or other device. We book a few open mic spots in advance, send email to juhokuusi@hotmail.com (put “Rondo Open Mic” in the header) and you can of course register at the spot to the hosts during the event.
